Alice Lacan, Ph.D.
Junior AI Fellow · CBIO, Mines Paris - PSL & Institut Curie
I am currently a Junior AI Fellow, funded by a 3-year PR[AI]RIE AI Fellowship. I work with Eloïse Berson at the Centre for Computational Biology (CBIO) at Mines Paris - PSL & Institut Curie (unit U1331), while also teaching in the International Bachelor of Science in AI (IBSAI) from Univ. PSL.
I work on generative modelling and more general deep learning approaches for biomedical data, from epidemiologic data, gene expression profiles to longitudinal electronic health records (EHRs). I have expertise in scarce, irregular and high-dimensional medical data, such as tabular data or long token sequences for instance.
From 2021 to 2024, I completed my PhD in Computer Science at Univ. Paris-Saclay, in the Arobas team (IBISC) & TAU team (Inria). My thesis focused on generating synthetic transcriptomics (bulk-RNA data) via deep generative models (VAEs, GANs, diffusion) for downstream data augmentation and cancer classification tasks.
